When we talk about e-commerce, we are focusing on providing valuable information through the content, services, and experiences. While B2C has better performance when using a PIM system, B2B needs it most as it gives the business the option to specify the precise workflow and all crucial product information for an effective B2B marketing plan.

Every system has different functions, some of them can be integrated to bring bigger solutions to businesses, specially for those that manage a big amount of data. In case of eCommerce businesses, information has to be integrated within many systems, such as ERP, so it will be accessible with in the company’s logistic processes.

As time goes by, technology leaders are having a hard time improving IT architectures by using API integrations. Also, data management has become more complex because of the acceleration of digital transformation in companies that want to remain competitive in the market. Do companies know that the urgency of digitalization is here? Are companies aware of the importance of workflow automation and what is the role of APIs in connecting services, applications, and clouds?

As you might be aware, Automate.io is ceasing operations from their business products because of a big partnership opportunity with Notion. As they announced in May 2022, they will focus on developing a new product together with Notion.

We are in post-pandemic times but certain things are not going back to “normal”. Although we get used to spending long hours using technology, businesses and people are still having a hard time jumping into a fully cloud-based environment, and that’s ok. There are some risks to consider depending on the business industry, like privacy protocols, control of data, and so on.

Nowadays, SaaS companies have to be ready to offer add-ons to their product, and many of them started having this approach to improve their customer satisfaction. Why? Because customers are looking for products that include integrations with their preferred cloud applications.

I think many of you would agree that the world is in a somewhat precarious situation at the moment. A long period of polarization preceded the current conflict in Ukraine that personally touches many of us. Maybe this is a good time to reflect on initiatives that bring people together and how data-driven insights and connection help us. Integrating (applications, platforms, data) is what we do at elastic.io, but maybe it’s better to think of it as connecting?

For many of us, the word ‘Zapier’ has become interchangeable with the word ‘automation’. They are undoubtedly the most prominent and loved integration service out there. Yet it doesn’t mean that Zapier is the best option for everyone, forever. If you are on this page right now, it means you’ve been searching for Zapier alternatives because it just stopped working for you the way it used to.

If you’re a SaaS company, it is impossible not to tackle the topic of integration. Whether you’re a small software business or a large, established tech enterprise with several SaaS products, every commercial conversation is highly likely to involve the question “Will I be able to sync data from your application with my CRM / ERP / Finance / Marketing” – you name it.

When talking about API integration, the matter of API rate limiting is unavoidable. Researching what the rate limits of the APIs you’re going to ‘consume’ in your integrations are should be part of your overall preparation for the development of your project scope. It is also a crucial detail to know when you will be designing your integrations; rate limits will define early on what mechanism you need to implement to avoid hitting them in the first place.

What's the difference between webhooks and APIs when it comes to integrating applications and systems with each other? elastic.io explains it in this 22 seconds adorable animation.

There is a separate video on the creation of your first integration flow, which discusses the topic in a little bit more detail. Here, we run through it rather quickly as part of the overall first steps on the platform immediately after a signup.

If you need to work with an attachment – create or send one – there are several connectors that support that. Don’t be confused by what you see now, Simple Trigger is not one of them, but I’m using it here to send some information along the flow. Now what I’m really looking for is the CSV connector, and here I’m using it to create – or, in fact, write a CSV file as an attachment.

To explain the usage of our content-based router that enables you to add some business logic to your integration flow, let’s imagine that I have received a Google Spreadsheet file with unsorted leads data, for example, from downloading a coupon on a website. To convert these leads to customers, I’d like to offer them something of interest with a specifically targeted campaign based on the country of residence. For that, I need to filter and split the list.

With the code component, you can add any type of code and therefore, create your very own, custom connectors. It’s dead simple to use – it is already provided with some default code for reference, which you can, of course, delete and replace with yours.

In this video, I’m working with our REST API connector to connect to our own elastic.io Integration Management API. We offer several ways to authenticate an API depending on its configuration. Here we take basic authentication with username and password. Now with the elastic.io API, the username is actually the email address you registered with. You can navigate to the Profile Information page to copy it from there.

To start working with a MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or MSSQL database, all you need to do is to select our Database connector. We have already learned from the short video on credentials that there are quite a few fields to fill in when you need to connect to a database for the first time. The data you see me enter here is merely from our test database.

As always, we start with giving our flow a meaningful name. Now let’s add a webhook. There are four authentication options for a webhook on our platform, just visit our documentation to learn more about it, but to keep it short and simple,

To use most of the available connectors you require to enter some sort of credentials to verify the account you want to access with a connector. You can add your credentials while setting up an integration flow as I’m doing it here on the example of the pet store connector.

You can see if any of your flows have errors as soon as you log in to your dashboard. It shows you the number of records processed in total – in green – and the number of records with errors – in red. You can also see the same information if you click on the corresponding flow from the dashboard. In my case, you can see I have three records processed and all three returned errors.

Shadow IT risks. Shadow IT - applications that have been procured without internal IT's knowledge - has ceased to be an issue that only big enterprise companies have to deal with. Now any-size company has to deal with it one way or another.

The impact of cloud computing is immense, with more and more businesses widely using cloud business applications. Integration scenarios that system integrators address on a regular basis are often repetitive. Sophisticated integration solutions are, however, in most cases out of SMBs' financial range. This creates a gap between the increased SaaS consumption and the ability to integrate cloud-based services efficiently.

elastic.io is an industry-first microservices-based hybrid integration platform as a service (iPaaS) that empowers IT organizations to accelerate enterprise digital transformation. In 2017, elastic.io became part of mVISE Group, a German public company with over 15 years of consultancy and project experience in IT.

elastic.io’s primary motivation is to support large corporations and mid-size businesses alike in their digital strategy initiatives by helping them spend less time on gathering data together across the entire organization, and instead, have enough time and resources to focus on using this data to improve business operations or to develop new products and services.

Benefits:

  • Speed: elastic.io’s hybrid integration platform comes with a rich library of pre-built connectors for mainstream business applications. Thanks to them and due to high reusability of any integration component, you can reduce your own integration efforts by up to 80% on average.
  • Designer: With the intuitive Designer, you can easily transform data between various applications and systems by mapping incoming data into the specific fields where the next integration components expect them to receive.
  • Monitoring: The elastic.io hybrid integration platform comes with all the necessary tools to detect inconsistencies in your integration workflows, find the source of errors and fix rebelling workflows within one or two hours.
  • Scalability: Each individual integration step on elastic.io can be scaled independently, ensuring high horizontal scalability. It is also highly scalable vertically via individual container resource configuration (RAM + CPU).
  • Deployment: Though being by nature an ideal fit for cloud applications, the elastic.io hybrid integration platform can be easily connected to the existing on-premises IT estate or deployed on-premises altogether.

To connect APIs, on-premises and cloud applications quickly and securely.
