Data Management with Cloudera CDP | Gartner Show Floor Showdown
At Gartner's Data and Analytics Summit in Orlando Florida, Director of Product Management, David Dichmann, presented the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) for Data Management. Using Flood data provided by Gartner together with additional data assets, we demonstrate how Cloudera's Hybrid, Open, Portable and Secure data platform could assist data practitioners in developing an early warning detection service for potential coastal flooding for the state of Florida. Data was imported from the provided source sets, automatically profiled for sensitivity, quality and completeness. This data was combined with historical weather data, forecast streams, weather station streams, traffic cameras and other data. CDP was used as a global enterprise data fabric to create a visual heat-map over a Florida map showing current storm conditions and flood risk potential. No code NiFi-based ReadyFlow Galleries were used in the Cloudera Data Flow service to capture weather streams, and the Flow Designer was used to design the more complex traffic camera data ingest. An Applied Machine Learning Prototype (AMP) was selected from our library of multiple AMPs in the Cloudera Machine Learning service, and data was additionally cleansed and prepared for use in training the predictive model. Cloudera Data Warehouse was used to help manage the data that would be visualized in the Cloudera Data Visualization service. Services were used in both on-premises and in public cloud form factors interchangeably throughout the demonstration showing the hybrid power of CDP.
