Linx Releases Advancements of its Low-code Platform
Cape Town, South Africa – Monday, March 28, 2022 - Linx, a low-code application development platform, has announced the general availability of Linx 6. Labelled as a backend platform for developers, the current iteration extends its capability to collaborate and deliver enterprise-strength low-code applications.
“Linx 6 is a significant and important leap for how developers use low-code platforms,” said Twenty57 CTO Gawie Yssel. “The new release continues to push the envelope not just for enterprise-grade low-code, but for low-code programming overall, regardless of organization size.”
The improvements include a host of new under-the-hood features alongside a new streamlined UI. In addition, the latest version includes a dark theme for the GUI, a new diffable file format, and several other technology changes that speed up the development process and extend the platform’s ability to deliver low-code solutions around systems integration, APIs, web services, and automation.
“Most low-code solutions are easy to use but cannot cope with complexity, while traditional development is powerful but time-consuming to learn and use,” said Yssel. “The new version of Linx brings these worlds closer together: a high-productivity, developer-focused experience that offers a faster way to build back-end applications, even very complex ones,” said Yssel.
The Linx 6 platform includes new developer tools, such as:
Diffable solutions
Linx 6 saves solutions to text files in a folder structure. It allows developers to use diffing tools to view and merge changes between versions.
More control over function result types
Functions now return any type, behaving exactly like functions in common programming languages.
Simplified solution layout
New UI improvements include changes to solution structures and making it more streamlined and straightforward to navigate and use, even for the most complex solutions.
Decoupled solution dependencies
Linx 6 sees the compiler and type system decoupled from the Linx Designer and Server. They are now dependencies of the solution. This change allows more control over solution dependency updates, providing a more reliable experience when working with a solution and less chance of unintentionally breaking something when deploying to a different environment. It also allows more granular updates to Linx, enabling a faster release cadence.
