Data collections and analysis is critical to ongoing business operations, but maintaining data integrity is an often overlooked problem. Ensuring data integrity is not only a consumer trust issue, but is often also mandated by legal regulations. Without accurate data, business leaders could make decisions that are slightly (or majorly) misguided.

It’s pretty impossible to be a modern company and not have a purpose statement. While purpose is ubiquitous, I’ve found that a compelling purpose can be illusive. It’s rare that companies have a clear sense of meaning that aligns and sustains their team. I gently offer that Testlio’s purpose is meaningful—and effective. Globally, the overall consumption of online video is trending up while television watch time is trending down. In a study of 4,500 consumers from 9 major countries, online video viewing grew 85% between 2016 and 2020. Meanwhile, television view time fell 10%. Previously, the onus of live stream testing and success was on networks and cable providers. But with OTT (over-the-top) streaming on the rise, media organizations face increased demand to deliver high video quality experience.

Live stream testing comes with unique challenges that sets it apart from mobile app or web application testing. When you offer a live stream of a national sporting event or political debate, millions of viewers flock to utilize your TV app, mobile app, or web app (or all three). Not only is performance at stake, but there can also be API, syndication, and CDN issues that threaten to derail the live stream. When a live stream goes down, it creates enormous frustration.

Software testing for Fortune 500 companies and large enterprises has many similarities to testing for mid-market companies – primarily that it’s focused on providing a quality experience to the end-user. Most of the world’s largest companies are broken down into small agile teams, so working with massive enterprises can often feel like working with a startup team. However, there are some key differences.

Fast product iteration yields low time-to-market, rapid response to user needs, and faster validation of new features. However, it also leads to tight testing windows. Automating software testing may be an instinctual response to demands for speed, yet striking a balance between automated and manual testing allows for greater control over the end-user experience.
